Confused on how to use love languages to show that you care? Here are some ways you can speak their receiving love language ✹

💬 Words of Affirmation

People who are receptive to words of affirmation feel love and affection through words. This can include encouragement, love letters, and compliments. Some ways you can show them love is by:

  1. Saying "I love you" often

  2. Compliment them whenever you can

  3. Remind them why you love them regularly.

🎁 Receiving Gifts

One of the most misunderstood love languages, those who feel love through receiving gifts don't always need big, expensive gifts. Rather, they might feel your love for them when they can feel thought and intention in your gift. Some ways you could show love can include:

  1. Making your gifts thoughtful and personalised. This can include getting Lego flowers for people who love flowers but dislike the mortality of them.

  2. Telling them why you got them that particular gift

  3. Showing that you listen to what your partner likes and dislikes

Those who feel love through receiving acts of service notice the little things you do for them. This can include:

  1. Helping out with errands when they're busy

  2. Going to places they like even when you aren't as big of a fan

  3. Giving them a glass of water when you notice they haven't drunk anything in a while

Quality time might be the hardest to satisfy when you've entered the rat race. Those who feel love through spending quality time with their loved ones want their partner's undivided attention, without distraction. In order to help communicate that, you can:

  1. Listen actively. Ask questions, show that you remember what they said before.

  2. Make time for them. Put work and school away and spend time with them without a secondary purpose.

  3. Plan unique dates to bring them with to make special memories between just the two of you.

đŸ€đŸŒ Physical Touch

Showing them love through physical touch through skinship might seem simple, but there are other ways to do so when it just might be impossible. In long distance relationships, or tough, busy periods, physically being around each other can be hard. Here are a few ways to keep each other in mind when physical touch might not be possible:

  1. Borrow each other's clothes when you can.

  2. Video chat rather than texting and calling.

  3. Write each other love letters and include a spritz of your usual perfume and cologne.

Love languages can be hard to navigate, but hopefully this list provides you some ideas on how to communicate your affection to suit your partner's love language. Not sure about your love languages? Check the test out here!

The test is a general guide however. You may give and receive in different ways, and it's important to self reflect and think about the different languages you may use to communicate your affections.
